In the movie The Matrix, the protagonist – named Neo – is early on given a kind of existential choice…
…he can take a blue pill which will allow him to return to the life he’s been living, one he knows, both struggles in and is yet familiar with, and believes he is in – or has – control of…but, he’s told (truthfully), is actually a delusion (!)…
…or…
…he can take a red pill which will dispel the delusion and allow him to see the world – i.e., reality – anew…but also told (again, truthfully) that he will be the one responsible (i.e., take control “back”) for his life…
If you, like Neo, were given such a choice what would you choose:
Taking the blue pill brings you back - like you've "never even left" - to this life you know, having chosen (what we call) "the devil you know" over what is unknown; which is - depending - most fearful or...quite exciting...
