A 3-Minute SQ
Audio Presentation: A 3-Minute Sitting Quietly…
Notes for after this Sitting Quietly…
This sitting serves as “a template” for developing your own “self-guided,” i.e., self-directed SQ. It has an opening, reminding one to be open to whatever happens and then prompts one to engage in some focused relaxation (there are many ways to do this).
It then prompts one to follow the relaxing with a brief body scan, noting and trying to release any tension or tightness one can feel.
It then goes into “the main event” – here to consider how one is doing. But the main event could be any one of a number of things you could do in a sitting (e.g., relax, “check in,” process, grieve, brainstorm, confront, imagine, pray, meditate). This is for you to learn, discover, and create.
And it ends with (and this is, of course, optional depending on the kind of sitting so engaged) taking a few moments to review or identify any “takeaways” that you might want to pursue or revisit.
________
Note: One can use this template SQ in making one’s own self-guided SQ (i.e., you “silently direct” and “do it” as modeled in the Audio Presentation) by simply extending the time from 3 minutes to, say, 5- or 10-minutes, or even longer as desired by (and again optional) setting a timer (say, on phone or watch)…
